A loft bunk bed is technically defined as a bunk bed in which the top of the mattress is more than three feet from the floor. As such, virtually all bunk beds are actually loft bunk beds under this definition.

In use, however, loft bunk beds often have simply one twin bed on top with nothing underneath. In addition, they are typically more self-contained in that they include many other features and/or furniture items that typically reside in a bedroom. Loft Beds

A loft bed is one that is raised up on legs or stilts or other support structure. They often stand anywhere from five feet off the ground to eight or even nine feet above the floor. They are ideal for many, many situations, and they were originally designed to save space. Not everybody lives in a large home; some people live in apartments or even single rooms. On the other hand, almost anybody can make use of a loft bed. If one of the bedrooms in your home is small, a loft bed is the ideal solution. A loft bed allows you to utilize the space under and above your bed. For example, you can put a desk underneath the bed or bookshelves.

Loft beds can either be purchased or built. It is usually made of wood and is quite easy to build. Those that are manufactured have many attractive features like closets, drawers, and desks of a storage space for toys. You can also purchase a basic loft bed on stilts and add your own special design.

Children love loft beds, although it is not recommended for any child under two years of age. Kids loft beds are colorful and playful at the same time. Some come with tents, windows, tunnels, etc. and are truly a playground as well as a sleeping area for your child. For older children and teens, loft beds come with desks or couches and are available in black. There are traditional and modern styles and are available in metal or wood.
