A loft bed is one that is raised up on legs or stilts or other support structure. They often stand anywhere from five feet off the ground to eight or even nine feet above the floor. They are ideal for many, many situations, and they were originally designed to save space. Not everybody lives in a large home; some people live in apartments or even single rooms.
